Can the SEC battery charger charge a battery while it is being connected to the load?
Yes. The SEC battery charger in the loaded battery condition (refer to the manual for appropriate DIP switch setting) can be used to charge the battery while it is connected to a load. Under this condition the charger operates as a two-stage charger bypassing the absorption stage to prevent damage to the batteries.
Can the SEC battery chargers supply a DC load in the absence of a battery?
In the loaded battery condition (refer to the manual for appropriate DIP switch setting) the SEC battery charger can work as a DC power supply to feed a DC load in the absence of a battery.
Can the SEC battery chargers be used in positive ground systems?
Yes. The output section of the SEC battery chargers is isolated from the input and hence can be used in positive ground systems.
What happens if in the loaded battery condition the load draws more current than the battery charger can supply?
In such a situation the excess current is drawn from the battery. In the long run this could drain the batteries, if the batteries are not re-charged. Hence it is recommended to use a battery charger with capacity equal to the sum of the current rating of the load and the desired charging current for the battery.
What DIP switch setting should be used to charge multiple battery banks?
The DIP switch setting corresponding to the loaded battery condition (refer to the manual for appropriate DIP switch setting) should be used to charge multiple battery banks to prevent overcharging of any single bank.
